Compared to Kyoto, Tokyo, Okinawa, each of which is the second, the third, the fourth most attractive prefectures, the growing popularity of Hokkaido is overwhelming and second to none.
Hokkaido is located in the northernmost part of Japan and has a subarctic climate. It is exactly opposite to Okinawa which has a subtropical climate.
The area of Hokkaido is 83.450k㎡, which accounts for over 20% of the whole land of Japan. Even only Sapporo City is much wider than the total area of the 23 special wards of Tokyo, whereas Sapporo’s population density is slightly higher than one-hundredth of Tokyo. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk, the riches of nature are still around here in Hokkaido, including magnificent mountains such as Daisetsuzan, many natural lakes, vast wetland, and so on. You can enjoy good-quality hot springs, the fertile land having a rich ecosystem all year round. The seasonal changes in the scenery will never make you get bored.
